’m not sure when I became ‘that’ mom, or when the line was even crossed … but, I am constantly buying cereals for my children that they do not eat. You’d think with their pleading, promising, and convincing that they’d actually consume some of the contents…
But that would make too much sense and be far to resourceful for our family.
After opening the breakfast cupboard to find the untouched and beautifully packaged boxes of cereal (for the final time) laying sadly on their sides – I decided to put an end to the madness.
Now introducing …. (whatever is in your cupboard) cereal bars.
Keep in mind that I used (precisely) anything that was in my cupboard. I wasn’t getting creative and mixing perfectly paired cereals, so don’t feel like you have to either.
These guys are great to cut up and store in individual baggies to grab and go before you take off to school or work. Store them in the freezer to keep them fresh for longer and smile knowing that you’ve actually saved a few boxes of the once desired, but never eaten, cereal.
If you decide one glorious evening to spare some of your chocolate, or (again) want to to round up the remains of old candy bars – simply set the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, mix every 30 seconds until melted. Dip the cereal bar into the chocolate and place on parchment paper in the fridge to harden.
Yes, turn that healthy snack into a slightly unhealthy one …. Or not.
