I have…kind of. But a lot of times I end up cruising around the Internets drooling over things for me. And making my wishlist on Amazon. Don’t judge. Especially because my list has evolved into THIS LIST, which will take all the guesswork out of what to buy that special foodie in your life. Or, if YOU are the special foodie, forward this list onto your sweetie, your friends, your family.
They’ll thank you. Really.
Plus, if you read through to the end of this post, there’s a special surprise for one of you. Seriously, don’t forget to check the end of this post. I know, the suspense is killing you.
Now, without further ado, the first ever Shrinking Kitchen Gift Guide. And, for your convenience, you can find all of these products in our Amazon store! Sweet!
Misto Olive Oil Sprayer
I use this handy sprayer almost daily. You can use any kind of oil you like, but without all the nasty propellants.
Kikkerland Owl Timers
Lissa and I both have an owl obsession. These timers are to die for. I have one in the kitchen – it also subs as a time out timer for my kids. Cause I’m all about repurposing.
Chef’n Pepper Grinder
I love the ease of this grinder. You can use it one handed, it’s a cinch to refill and it looks sleek in the kitchen.
A microplane is a must have in any well equipped kitchen. You can zest citrus, grate ginger, garlic, nutmeg and hard cheeses. Plus, it takes up minimal space.
Cuisipro Foam Pump Soap Dispenser
This might seem like a weird gift, but I am in love with mine! You put in a little bit of hand soap, fill the rest of the way with water, and you have foam for days (or weeks!). Since I love my expensive Mrs. Meyers hand soap, this is a great way to stretch it and save a few bucks.
For Your Bookworm Foodie
The New Way to Cook Light
Cooking Light is amazing. I pore over every issue. This cookbook is full of amazing recipes, just like the magazine.
Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics
If I could be adopted by Ina Garten, I would. I’d pack up and move to the Hamptons and drive around with her to different markets in her little convertible and let her cook delightful meals for me. But since that’s not likely to happen, I’ll settle for this cookbook. Every cook needs a Barefoot Contessa cookbook. While they’re not always light, the food is always consisently amazing.
Rocco Dispirito: Now Eat This Italian
Italian Food. Under 350 calories. Hot guy. ‘Nuff said.
Hungry Girl: To the Max!
Hungry Girl is awesome. She takes our guilty pleasures and makes them healthy. All her recipes are simple. Quite simply, she’s my hero.
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day
Christy swears by this book and I’m sold. I love homemade bread – and if I can avoid all the icky additives you get in storebought bread, all the better.
Budget Friendly Gifts
Joseph Joseph Nesting Food Prep Set
Everything you need to prep a meal (measuring, mixing, even a colander) in one handy dandy nesting set. Plus, could the colors be cuter?
Silpat Baking Mat
If you have a baker in your life, a Silpat is the bomb. Say goodbye to baked goods sticking to cookie sheets. This thing is a miracle. Trust me.
Cuisinart Smart Stik Immersion Hand Blender
I can’t say enough about immersion blenders. If you need to blend up a sauce or puree a soup quickly, this is your tool. It cleans up easily and takes up virtually no space!
Henckels Santoku Knife
My number one kitchen knife. I would marry it if I could. True story.
Le Crueset Mortar & Pestle
It’s impressive to have a mortar and pestle in your kitchen. People will think you’re some kind of gourmet. I use mine to grind up whole spices and make pastes out of fresh herbs and garlic. And you can make fresh guacamole in no time at all – score!
Big Ticket Items
Le Creuset Dutch Oven
First of all, this is a total heirloom item. It’s super durable and unless you drop it and shatter it, you’ll have it forever. I use mine several times weekly and I love it – it goes from stovetop to oven seamlessly and cleans up in a snap. And how pretty is this color?
Christy has one of these and I’m totes jelly – and I just realized how ridiculous it is for a 34 year old to say ‘totes jelly’. Whatevs. Anyhow, this blender is kind of amazing. IT MAKES SOUP. Did I say amazing? I meant MAGIC.
Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer
This mixer is a classic and it lasts FOREVER. I got mine as a wedding gift and use it constantly. You can also get a bunch of attachments – a pasta maker, even a meat grinder. If you get this for someone, they will love you, pretty sure.
Paninis? Check. Steaks? Check. Burgers? Check. Nutella banana sandwiches? Checkity check. The ‘panini press’ does it all. Love love love.
Cuisinart Food Processor
Food prep can be a pain in the tush. A food processor erases that effort and makes getting dinner on the table a breeze. Plus, this one is pink. WHAT? So sweet.
