Does anybody else get really confused when a holiday falls in the middle of the week? I forget what day it is and it takes me about a week to recover.
It’s time for The Hot Dish and I’ve got some sizzling stuff to share (say that fast five times) this week! Yummy food, a great blog, some mouthwatering condiments and more!
I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend, doing something you love and eating some delicious (and healthy) food!
Food I’m Coveting
Skinny Taco Dip:
This is so similar to my mother-in-law’s fabulous taco dip recipe, but a lot healthier.
Balsamic & Onion Pot Roast in the Slow Cooker:
This is some serious comfort food right here, and it’s South Beach Phase 1 friendly!
This Week’s Blog Crush
Sweet Kitchen Find
The fantastic folks over at Sir Kensington’s were kind enough to send me some of their delicious products to try. Which is awesome, because I’m kind of obsessed with condiments. My two faves? The Spiced Ketchup and the Chipotle Mayonnaise.
The superb Spiced Scooping Ketchup is made without high fructose corn syrup but do have lots of great ingredients, like apple cider vinegar, vine-ripened tomato puree, honey, agave, raw brown sugar and lots of yummy spices. It’s not your typical ketchup (or mayo). You’ll want to savor it. My favorite way to use the ketchup is to pour it over a block of low fat cream cheese, then top with fresh crab or shrimp. Serve that with some crackers and watch it disappear!
The Chipotle Mayonnaise is made with cage free eggs and has 33% less saturated fat than typical mayo. It is perfect on a grilled chicken sandwich with lots of fresh tomatoes and arugula, or as a tasty condiment in fish tacos!
What’s on My Nightstand
Eating Well magazine is one of my go-to healthy cooking magazines. The recipes are simple, always healthful and so delicious.
Cooking Tip of the Week
Maybe it’s just me, but I get thoroughly confused about cuts of beef. I found this handy dandy little chart that is so very helpful. Click through for a larger version of the chart and more info on each cut!
