For many, including me, the only fig you’ve ever been exposed to is Newtons. On my quest to try as much new stuff as possible, I decided to change that and I picked up some figs at Trader Joe’s last week.
Honestly, I’m kind of mad I’m just learning about how incredibly delicious they are. I actually really enjoy them plain. So good. But I knew, at first bite, that figs would pair perfectly with cheese.
These mouthwatering little bites are perfection. Figs, roasted in a syrupy honey balsamic mixture and topped with just a bit of goat cheese. Sweet, salty, tangy. And pretty much as simple as simple gets. Four ingredients and you’ve got a quick, pretty appetizer that is sure to impress even the most discerning palate.
Serve these up with a little wine during cocktail hour. Make them as a healthy dessert. Top a simple baby green salad with a few and drizzle with a little extra vinegar and oil. Whatever you do, make these…especially if you’ve never had figs. I’m telling you. Newtons are alright, but fresh figs? Wowza.
