A few weeks back, I was fortunate enough to attend a healthy living blogging conference – FitBloggin – in Savannah. One of my favorite sessions was with California Avocados. Tons of great information and yummy ideas for non-traditional ways to use avocados.
Such as in a smoothie. At first I was a little skeptical. Don’t get me wrong, I love love LOVE avocados, but in a traditional way…with a sprinkle of salt, or in guacamole, or sliced in a salad.
Yesterday, I woke up and wanted a smoothie. I started rifling through the fridge and fruit bowl and came up with lots of delicious fruit…including a avocado that needed to be used up. It went into the blender, along with a ripe nectarine, a few strawberries, an almost too soft (but perfect for smoothies) banana, some almond milk, chia and ice. A few minutes on high speed and I had a frothy, creamy and delicious morning boost!
This creamy smoothie is dairy free, has no added sugar and is chock full of healthy fat and protein. It’ll fill you up and keep you going all morning.
So listen up…avocado in a smoothie? Totally legit. Give it a try!
PS. I also totally made up the word strawvacado. You’re welcome for that.
