Greek food is one of my absolute favorites. Feta cheese. Tzatziki. All the lemon and garlic! My usual order at a Greek restaurant is chicken souvlaki – which is chicken breast marinated in garlic, lemon, olive oil and oregano, then skewered and grilled. I’ve never really tried to make it at home. A little intimidated, I suppose.
But yesterday, I sucked it up and decided I would try my hand at Greek style chicken – but in the Sous Vide! I thought the slow cook in the water bath followed by a quick char on the grill would create a perfectly juicy and flavorful dish. I was right! The chicken and marinade are sealed up tight and cooked slowly so all the wonderful flavors really shine. So good.
I served mine over a simple Greek salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and feta with a squeeze of lemon. Fresh and delicious. This Greek chicken would also be wonderful wrapped in a pita with tzatziki sauce. Mmmm.
As with all Sous Vide recipes, I’ve also included an alternative preparation method, though if you do have a chance to get your hands on a Sous Vide Supreme, I would highly recommend it…I’m having so much fun with mine!
Disclosure: I was provided with a Sous Vide Supreme machine to test out and enjoy. As always, all opinions are my own.
