On Fridays at the Shrinking Kitchen we share some of our favorites, whether it’s kitchen tips, cookbooks, or recipes. This week my the favorite I’m sharing is food toppings. I love toppings and I don’t think they get enough praise or recognition.
Toppings can turn a baked potato, salad, soup, or ice cream sundae from boring to WOW in seconds.
Here are some of my favorite food toppings :
Baked potatoes – broccoli, nutritional yeast, Greek yogurt, turkey chili, cheese, pinto beans, leftover fajitas, roasted veggies, olive oil (and not all at the same time!)
Sweet potatoes – pumpkin seeds, coconut oil & sea salt; cinnamon, stevia & a marshmallow;
Yogurt – granola, almonds, walnuts, pecans, dried fruit, berries, honey, chocolate chips, mango
Soup – pumpkin seeds, tortilla chips, Greek yogurt, freshly clipped herbs
Salad – nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit, fresh fruit like oranges or strawberries, wonton noodles, tortilla chip strips, avocado
