Eating clean seems to be the new fad diet, huh? Well, let me tell you a little secret? It’s really awesome, and you’ve never feel as fabulous or energetic or AMAZING as you’ll feel when you eliminate all of the junk from your diet and go whole. Whole as in whole foods. Foods without added sugar, or ingredients you can’t pronounce. Foods you actually prepare in your kitchen from scratch. Yeah, those. They’re delicious, trust me. Foods like these No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Bars. This is no cabbage soup diet fad, man!
Just because I’m eating clean and have kicked the sugar habit doesn’t mean I don’t need a little sweet in my life. I LOVE sweets, who am I kidding? But now I try to be smart with my sweets so I don’t end up on a slippery slope of drowning my fears, anxieties, boredom, anger, (insert your emotion) in sugar.
I saw these No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal bars floating around on Pinterest a few months back, and added them to my Recipes I Might Give a Whirl board. Boy am I glad I did! YUM! I made 2 batches, and hid one in the depths of my freezer – they were that good. And I’m not ashamed to say (or maybe I am) that I snuck these bad boys out when no one was looking, and I might have eaten them while I was hiding in the pantry. Or laundry room (because really, who is ever going to look in the laundry room?). In my defense, I will say that my super-secret hidden extra batch lasted me two months. True story. I savored them slowly.
So yeah, make them, and I totally won’t judge if you hide in the laundry room and eat them. (The laundry room is your safe haven).
