Do you ever walk through a Farmer’s Market and check out the food booths? It’s one of my favorite things to do besides shopping for fresh produce! It has been five years ago or more since I tried a black bean burger at one of these food booths. (Of course, I can’t remember which market!) What I do remember is that the black bean burger was really tasty and moist, not like the frozen ones I used to try that tasted like cardboard.
At this booth, they actually shared the recipe for the burgers. In going through my recipe box the other day, I stumbled upon the black bean burger recipe. It has been a long time since I made these, and I noticed I made notes on the paper suggesting some changes. Naturally, I decided to try the recipe again using my own notes.
They are filling, moist and have lots of flavor, perfect as Sliders with a few natural chips or veggies. I toast the slider buns and add lettuce, avocado and tomato slices. You can add a spicy mayo or ketchup, but I kept mine bare and they were delicious.
